LBC E-Verify Ordinance is needed to decrease city unemployment rates and create jobs for legal residents

Published in the Lb Press Telegram 8/2/2011

The city council is too busy redistricting council districts, banning plastic bags, and over regulating the economy to look into creating jobs through intelligent financial /political policy. The unemployment rate in Long Beach is 14% with a population of 472,000. According to the LBUSD there are about 36,000 illegal immigrants in Long Beach including children. A citywide e-verify ordinance similar to the one implemented in the city of Temecula is the solution to decreasing unemployment in Long Beach. The Temecula E-verify ordinance requires, E-verify participation verification be presented in order to obtain or renew a business license within Temecula city limits. Many employment opportunities would be created in Long Beach decreasing unemployment rates by at least 4-5%.

The city council leadership talks of following LA County’s political precedent… why not look into the precedent set at the following cities, Mission Viejo, Temecula, and Murrieta? So with one simple ordinance, we could stop MOST illegal immigrants from working within long beach city limits. E-verify will help put the unemployed, students, and any willing able body person back to work! Long Beach and the rest of LA County need to implement an E-Verify ordinance to put some legal residents back to work.

Having an E-Verify ordinance is no different than the city enforcing speeding laws that are already on the books. This isn't about profiling; this isn't about race, economic class, crime, or anything else. This is about the fact that if you are not a legal citizen; you can't work in this country period. E-verify is a free federal service to verify! No business has an excuse not to use it.

I am sure there are many good workers who are honest and are here illegally, but for many having work is a privilege these days and work should go to legal workers. With an unemployment rate of 12%, some estimate it is 18% in reality, California can't afford not to enforce E-verify. The time has come to take a stance. You are either for illegal aliens and open borders or you are for USA laws and sovereignty it is just that simple.

Imagine how many jobs we could create in Long Beach with E-verify? I forecast unemployment rates falling below 10% in the city of Long Beach stimulating the local economy, in addition to increasing tax revenue for the city. The City Council should look into an E-Verify ordinance and help put Long Beach back to work, instead of redistricting unnecessarily and creating more bad business policy. Why can’t Long Beach set the precedent for E-verify in LA County? Maybe the LA City Council will follow the LB City Councils precedent for a change..

Long Beach Plastic Bag Ban Ordinance is bad business policy and violates the CA constitution

California’s Green jihad has led to bad business decisions all over LA county including Long Beach. Since before the recession California manufacturing has been on a decline. Los Angeles is still the nation’s largest industrial area, has lost a remarkable one-fifth of its manufacturing employment since 2005. California’s green theology has lead to multiple illogical economic and political decisions. The plastic bag ban law in LA county and Long Beach is a textbook example!

In November of 2010 California voters passed proposition 26, which requires local government to achieve a supermajority vote to pass new taxes and fees such as the fee associated with the plastic bag ban in Long Beach. Even though the city receives no money from this fee, the city government is still controlling how bag revenue is used. Requirements for how revenue is used means retailers are acting as an agent of the government, which under proposition 26 would qualify as a fee. Proposition 26 is supposed to stop politicians from using a loophole to raise even more taxes by disguising them as fees.

What this means is that every part of the plastic bag ban except for the fee is legal until the city of Long Beach can put a citywide vote on the matter. This vote would need to achieve two-thirds supermajority to make this 0.10 cents paper bag surcharge legal. Lets save the environment, by banning plastic bags the way San Francisco has with out a fee, a fee that will drive shoppers away from Long Beach. Why has’nt anyone taken this up in the local Long Beach courts?

Attending a CSU is not a Right it is a Privilege!

The cost of attending CSU campuses has been a big debate due to the sudden increases in student fees as of late. Even the CSULB Right Wing jumped to the conclusion that, YES student fees are unreasonably high. Some radical left wing groups pander to the idea that fee hikes are racist!!!!!

The CSULB Right Wing begs to differ! According to simple research that took me all of 10 minutes one can find the state budget allocation for the 2009-2010 year as well as the CSU system breakdown of financing.

This year the state of California is allocating 13% of the state budget for higher education. Also, primary education in the state of California is 31.6% totaling all education cost for the state of California at 41.6%! That is quite a bit for education considering the population and other state operations that must be financed…

The fact of the matter is that the CSU system is here to help less fortunate students families primarily, however not everyone can attend college and the state of our CSU system is the prime example! Due to the increased prestige of certain CSUs the need to give professors financial raises is necessary to secure the best professors to get the highest quality of education possible, so please bleeding hearts stop saying students get nothing in return.

Our universities are over populated and cannot sustain the caliber of education dished out with the combinations of increased enrollment and decrease of financing. For every three dollars the state distributes to the CSU system alumni donate one dollar. (Donations for the 2008-year to the CSU system totaled 442 million)

Currently students pay for about 33% of education costs for a college degree in the CSU system according to the present rate whereas the difference is financed by the state. I think that is a pretty good deal and if cutting enrollment is the only way to sustain the CSU system then unfortunately lets the cuts continue. Again, society must remember that going to college is not an entitlement, but a privilege. Ones unfortunate financial upbringing should not entitle one to a free education unless one possesses the required academic merits set by the University.

If you don’t believe this do the research yourself…..

Limbaugh's Bid To Own NFL Team Fumbled

It was announced today that the group attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams has excluded Conservative Radio talk show Rush Limbaugh from their efforts. Limbaugh has been publicly attacked by prominent public figures like the Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson for more or less unfounded reasons.

This is not about the NFL, it’s not about the St. Louis Rams, it’s not about me,” Limbaugh said. “This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative."

Limbaugh's accusation is very much true when an outside source examines the evidence in the adversaries and their reasoning.

The move was hailed by the Rev. Al Sharpton, one of the most vocal critics of Limbaugh’s bid.

“It is a moral victory for all Americans—especially the players that have been unfairly castigated by Rush Limbaugh,” Sharpton said in a statement. “This decision will also uphold the unifying standards of major sports.”

Sharpton added in a telephone interview that major sports leagues shouldn’t welcome owners who are “divisive and incendiary.”

Overall Rush Limbaugh's dream of owning and NFL team have been smashed due to liberal bull crap which disgusts me.

Is Obama Hitler or A Marxist Fascist?

Without question, Obama has legions of people that follow him just as Hitler did. Obama uses persuasive speech almost as well as Hitler did in his time. However, no one can be as horrible as Hitler was. Mr. Obama is a Marxist, which is not American. In many senses, this is far worse because free will is what defeated the Nazis.

Obama is taking away our distinct American Constitutional rights and it must be stopped. He wants to censor talk and entertainment radio, and take away citizens' right to bear arms. These political agendas are despicable because they are unconstitutional.

As Californians we should already know what happens when Marxists take control of the government. Basically, there is nothing left after the Liberals crusade for the poor and illegal aliens. Our budget short fall is $10 billion. It cost $1.9 billion to jail illegal aliens and $8.8 billion to give them healthcare. Why not just cut these programs instead of raising students' tuition $500? California Marxism is what is causing tuition and everything else to increase. What is happening in California will happen in a similar fashion at the national level if we do not start educating people on the Marxist activities Obama and his radical administration are partaking on.

Change? That's what the former leaders of Russia and Germany said and presently they are only a fraction of the super power they once were. We need a real change before the United States falls under that category.

Liberal Democrats Socialist Overtones Begin To Anger America

Obama is blatantly attempting to destroy the policies that our Founding Fathers established by incurring large debt that will take decades to repay, silence free speech, and destroy capitalism. His activities have not gone unnoticed by the American people. In reality, the American people do not want most of the policies that Obama is pushing.

With President Obama's drop in national public approval ratings, one begins to wonder how bad Obama really is, considering all the preferential treatment he receives from openly left-wing media. Tu che libs!

The Democratic Party controls the House, Senate, and the White House. Yet, there is still ample disagreement with Obama's National Health Care Plan within the Democratic Party. Some Democrats simply just want to get re-elected or maybe they just do not want to commit our grandchildren to really high tax rates.

In California, we are stuck under Marxist rules. I know at Long Beach State tuition has gone up $500 per semester. This is largely due to the union power and the cost of illegal immigrants. It costs about $15 billion to jail, educate, and feed illegals. This does not include health care.

Obama is not able to fool educated people like me and many Americans. Wake up, do your research, and tell this liberal socialist "NO, YOU CAN'T!"

AB 540 Students Should Be Turned Away From Long Beach State Before Legal Residents

The term AB 540 Student is a politically correct term for students that are illegal immigrants or one without papers. When AB 540 was passed into law in 2001, it opened CSUs and UCs to illegal aliens by offering tuition at in state prices and into an already overcrowded college system in which they effectively and justly have no place.

Fast forward to 2009 about 600 students are estimated to be AB 540 students at Long Beach State. There is talk of cutting classes and admission which is all quite unfortunate.

In regards to admission why not just do away with AB 540 students? Currently AB 540 students are not elgible for federal financial aid which is great, but with the Dream Act on the horizon that may change in the near future. American Citizens are entitled to the public education system as a citizen or legal resident, your parents or guardians most likely paid into the tax system so legal residents should be entitled to education before illegal aliens regardless of merit.

Now this may sound harsh but illegal alines and their anchor babies are not only destroying our state but our education system. If there were state surplus then one could justify financing illegal aliens and looking the other way.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes that the costs to Californians is $10.5 billion per year. 7.7 billion dollars goto the education of illegal aliens and 1.4 million goes to healthcare and incarceration of illegals. these numbers are just general expense in California for illegals, with a 24 billion dollar shortfall deportation become more of an appropriate way of balancing the budget.(http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/immigrationnaturalizatio/a/caillegals.htm)

The Martinez et al v. Regents of the University of California et al. court case states that "…an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident."

The out-of-state students also established unfair exclusion from reaping their lawfully deserved benefits, by having state law "illegally discriminate" against them "by denying them a benefit provided to illegal aliens."

Furthermore, balancing the numbers and enrollment at Long Beach State could be partially done by eliminating AB 540 students who have no legal right to be attending college before US citizens.

Overall it would be great to help out illegals in all aspects of their educational needs and desires but, legal residents come first. How can California help others if California cannot even help itself? People need to be financially cut off financially in the state who better and more deserving then illegal aliens of any race?
